what options did the dr give you...
chronic steroid use has side effects that are difficult to manage and quite dangerous. with bad asthma, it is important to max out the doses of inhaled steroids and add what is called a long-acting beta agonist. and of course your albuterol for attacks. oral prednisone should be reserved for bad attacks that put you in the hospital.
another important step in asthma management is making sure you are using the right technique with inhalers. many studies have shown you get more drug with a spacer ; so you may wanna ask for one.
