So Ever since I was young I have always had a hard time concentrating in school, the typical problem of reading something 5 times and still not retaining what you've read etc. Anyways, Ive gone through many different medicines that didn't work for me, but the latest and most notable 2 are
Adderall and Methyphenidate.
My question is which ADD medication has a worse interaction with
Prozac, based on known cases?
When I was in highschool, I took Adderall along with prozac, and I felt fine for awhile, but after months of taking it I began to feel anti social, sure it made me able to concentrate, but in a almost spacey way. It was like I was concentrating too much, I also felt jittery and anxious, always worried someone was going to play a prank on me (of course they did, but I was almost paranoid about it). I stopped taking it because it was a time release and I did not like being unable to come down from that feeling all day long.
I went for about 3 years without any ADD type medications and began to feel overwhelmed in college, so I had another medication,
Methylphenidate perscribed to me. It only lasts about 3-4 hours and is not a time release, so I can take it right before I am going to study, and not worry about being jittery when I go out with my friends later. The methylphenidate causes a almost euphoric state where I feel motivation and inner peace that I really didnt feel ever before, even with prozac I am still a slightly irritable person.
I cannot tell which gives me better concentration, because of the lapse of time between taking the 2, but I am curious as to which side effects you guys think are worse, and if Methylphenidate can cause any loss in creativity or can cause extreme nervousness. I am an aspiring musican and my local community college studying jazz, and I have to play in front of people, without either meds I can play in front of them fine, but my concentration is very limited. I am wondering which, if either, would effect me in a negative way towards playing in a band or with people or anything along those lines.
Any credible, educated oppinions anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. I apologize for the long eyesore I have written out and appreciate anyone willing to take the time to read it.
