Question ??? About lyrica

My doctor has given me samples of LYRICA, and we are discussing if I should take it for RESTLESS LEGS. I would like feed back from others that are currently taking,[or have taken over the past year] LYRICA, and your experience. Thank you.

I don't take Lyrica, but I take a very close relative, Neurontin. I am taking it for chronic pain, as it apparently helps with nerve pain and also acts with your brain to help you to deal with pain. I've never heard of using Lyrica for that, but it might help. I work for a neurologist and we usually prescribe Requip for RLS. But, the Neurontin, it takes a little while to work and it does help. Its not like taking a narcotic obviously, its not that effective but I like it. And both the Lyrica and Neurontin, you can keep increasing it until it helps, but you have to start at a small dose and work up because its biggest side effect is sleepiness. I started on one 300 mg Neurontin three times a day and now I am up to two/two/three divided daily with no side effects. they are both pretty good medications. Have you tried it yet? Does it help you?

My experience with Lyrica was not good. After only taking it for 3 days I had to stop because it made me feel weird and acting weirder. I took it for my fibromyalgia. Don't know if this will help you but this was my experience with it. Good luck.

I've been taking Lyrica for over 3 years now... that 3 day period you were talking about....that's about the threshold of the side effects winding down. Also, don't think you mentioned yer starting/current dose. If it makes you feel too weird/sleep a lot/make yer gums feel weird, which are common, tell yer doctor. Maybe he/she can start you off on a lower dose and work your way up to what your doc feels is therapeutic for you. Like I said.. I've been taking it for a long time now for nerve pain resulting from a spinal injury and it's the real deal. I used to take a A LOT of narcotics AND Lyrica and now i just take Lyrica and Ibuprofen and life is good. Hang in there...it takes some time to build up in yer system. Also..it's important to divide your doses as evenly as possible...don't set your alarm for the middle of the nite or anything but for during your waking hours. Good luck.
