I've been using drugs.com for research and I just thought I would share my experience with two generic forms of Xanax.

A bit of background on my medical history first to paint the picture: I've had myoclonic epilepsy since I was a teenager (15-16) and I haven't had much of a social life since then. I went to a neurologist a few years ago who prescribed me keppra which worked wonders for my epilepsy but I still suffered from social anxiety.

About a few weeks ago I made a decision to see my doctor about my depression. I was prescribed Lexapro, pristiq, imipramine, prozac, and xanax. The first week I was put on lexapro and xanax. Unaware at the time lexapro heightened my anxiety to the point that I didn't realize I took a week's worth of xanax in three days. My doctor was worried about me getting addicted to it so he then put me on pristiq only, which the next day at work I felt like a madman, blowing up at any little thing that came up.

The next day I went to see him, He put me on Prozac, after two days I went back and told him that it wasn't doing a thing for me. Later I found out that Prozac contains 90%+ fluoride, which if anyone knows about fluoride, its actually a form of poison.

I went to see him again the next day, he prescribed me imipramine. As soon as I left the pharmacy I got in my car I took 1 pill of the smallest dosage. All of a sudden my heart starts to race and I could feel the blood rushing in the arteries of my neck. I grabbed a bite to eat at a drive through, went home and ate. When I laid down to bed I started having myoclonic seizures. In the middle of the night I tossed the whole rx in the trash and went to him the next day. I wanted to try the xanax alone but he insisted on SSRI's.

He then puts me on doxepin, which was the worst one. Learning from my last mistake I took one pill when I got home. In about 1/2 hour I started feeling dizzy and blackout on my bed. I awoke, 14 hours later 4am in the morning to go to the bathroom. I felt like I just came out of a coma, I felt weak and glued to my bed. When I tried to walk, I felt like I just really drunk, stumbling and running into everything. I was able to manage getting back to bed, to awake 4 hours later with the same symptoms!!! I did manage to put myself together, shower, eat and drive to the doctors office, which I had no business doing. I still felt like I was very drunk. When I was in the waiting room I had already drank a large cup of a coffee, but still I passed out in my chair for an hour and a half!

When he saw me stumbling to the patient room he finally prescribed me a small dosage of xanax. But wanted me to see a psych, since the DEA is always up his rear about prescribing controlled substances to young adults (I'm 25). Even though he only gives legit prescriptions. Now that my history is out of the way...

I've been taking the generic xanax (alprazolam) made by mylan lab for the time I was seeing my doc and my psych. Which worked so well for me I decided to take a vacation. I never had the motivation to do anything before Xanax. This was wonderful news since I never took a vacation since I started my job. My psych gave me another prescription for my vacation (within the U.S.), when I got it filled the pharmacy filled the prescription with the Greenstone generic. By the time I ran out of my mylan xanax I was back home.

Almost missing my flight back home because of airport incompetence this past Sunday, when I got home with my luggage I took 1.25mg of Greenstone alprazolam. I didn't get the usual hunger or any drowsy effects which I thought was odd. It wasn't until I tried to sleep that I had serious heartburn that I didn't get any sleep. The next day I chalked up the experience to traveling and eating out all the time while on vacation. I decided not to take any xanax since I was feeling fine. I went to work yesterday, even went to the gym. When it was time to sleep I couldn't. So I popped two greenstone tabs (.5mg) and let them dissolve under my tongue.

Almost immediately I started breaking out into a cold sweat and in no time I started having small seizures and started seeing "stars" in my eyes. Needless to say I had another sleepless night. I did manage to get some sleep, but when I awoke I was drenched in sweat so bad that I looked like I ran a few miles.

Still suffering from some minor seizures I put myself together this morning, called my job and told them I may be late or not in today. I went to my physician since my psych was not in the office today explained what happened and turned in the bottle of the greenstone generic to him since i wanted nothing to do with it! With still more then 200+ pills in the bottle (.25mg tabs).

He tried prescribing me a weeks worth, long story short. It took three trips to my physician, three trips to the pharmacy and a few dozen calls to get a hold of my psych, who had to call in the prescription for a weeks worth of xanax (10mg)!

Just thought I'd share my experience, anyone else have any experience with other generic brands of xanax? Good or Bad.
