Weight Loss and Lexapro A lot of people here discuss Lexapro and weight gain. I was wondering if anyone out there, like me, find it difficult to gain weight on Lexapro?
I have come from a history of eating disorder which is part of the reason I am on Lexapro. As opposed to gaining weight I seem to be able to eat huge amounts of food (1800 to 2500 calories /day) and not gain any weight. I have also stopped exercise completely (dr orders for a while). Since I am a little underwieight - not hugely - I find it strange that with no exercise and eating 4 times more then I have done in years for around three months now I would have thought I'd at least have gained the 'underweight pounds'
To put this into perspective all through my adult life, if I looked at a piece of bread I would gain weight because I screwed my metabolism up through my eating disorders. So its a big change - we're talking about 30 years being one way (i.e. easily gain weight) then since I took lexapro that all changing.
So anyway - you got my life story (sorry) ... has anyone else experienced weight loss or inability to gain weight since taking Lexapro?
Thank you all -
I took Lexapro for a while and it did not seem to affect my appetite at all, nor did it cause any weight gain or loss. I would talk to your doc about your concerns. It may just be you're sensitive to the drug and maybe need a different anti-depressant. My psychiatrist told me that Lexapro is one of the weaker anti-depressants. Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck.
