Default using Subutex for two week rapid taper

Turns out Melinda is having to take RX opiates for another few weeks due to some problems. In consideration that she's already been taking oxycodone 4-6 times each day for a month there is obviously going to be a dependency issue. Nothing she can do about it.

I think it's foolish for her to put herself through any additional pain doing a cold-turkey detox even for a week. She has been through enough pain already. I have been working with subs for long enough that I KNOW that I can do a rapid-taper detox using subutex in two weeks max. This is the perfect place to prove it. Melinda is going to be my guinea pig. She's a cute little guinea pig though even if she is kind of pitiful right now.

Melinda has made arrangements to have subutex available when she stops the RX opiates. I will walk her through the taper in record time. I don't recommend this type of sub therapy unless a person is in a situation similar to Melinda. She has been clean for a year, she has had no choice about taking the painkillers and is NOT at risk of relapse with a rapid taper. Those in different stages of recovery should continue to take the recommended 6-8 weeks. A two-week taper isn't for everyone.

We will track this as we go along and then when all is done I'll probably do a sticky so others will have direct access to another way to do sub therapy. I don't think most people need to suffer through detox anymore if they do this right. Melinda certainly isn't going to while I'm here. We will keep you all posted how this goes as we go forward. God bless.

Stay at 1mg until you get better. Then start reducing your dose by 25% every four days.

If you'll start a new thread of your own I will walk you right through the process. We do it here every day. God bless.

Hi Robert,

I'm sorry that Melinda is having to go through all of this. Thank God you are with her. I'm sure this experience will end up being really helpful to others. Being able to help others is the best outcome for a bad experience, I guess. God bless you both; you do so much good on this site. I'll be praying for you guys and for a very successful outcome to your "experiment."

Take good care,
Maisie

Hi Robert...Melinda is in great hands and so lucky to have you...I know she was afraid going back on the pain meds after her surgery but like you said she shouldn't have to be in pain either...it's just sad that the doctor screwed up and she had to suffer ....but she has you and God on her side...my prayers are with you both.
God Bless
Pam
