Well,Ultram WAS supposed to be non-narcotic and non-addicting.Now we know that's simply not true.As a matter of fact they tell you on the pharmacy print-out not to take them for more than five days.I had addictions to all pain pills but my DOC was Oxycontin.I took Ultram when I could not get anything else, and was impressed by it's ability to hold off W/D's so long.(6 to 8 hours per 10 pills)I never had an addiction to just Ultrams but I would think if you are okay tomorrow you'll be lucky. You didn't say how long you'd been taking the 8 to 12 pills? That makes a difference. Was that the amount you were prescribed?I'm guessing no if you're out.The first signs of W/D's are nausea and anxiety. Those usually show up the same day you don't have any. Then it gets markedly worse.I don't want to say much 'cause you may be okay. How far into day 2 are you?Not a thing OTC can take the place of an opiate.Ultram isn't REALLY an opiate but it still tweaks the receptors and thats why its addicting.Make sure you try to eat and drink at least some or you'll make it worse on yourself.Rest and try to stay calm. You say you have about a week to go?And this is the first time you've run out?You are doing well toward not abusing this drug.Congrats.If you get thru tonight without W/D's you should be okay.Get your script and be careful. If you take them as directed you should not get sick as bad as some one who goes thru their script in say 2 days!Write back tomorrow or tonight keep us posted.

Just so you know I was on tramadol for a year and a half and could not get any more and so I had to go thru an inpatient detox and it was not so bad. I was medicated to help most of the with most of the withdrawal symptoms so maybe you should consider that?? Just advice not trying to tell you what to do....Best of luck and I hope you feel ok...

I am on Ultram 50 mg 6 times a day I started on them about 8-10 months ago due to lower back pain from a domestic violence issue my husband neat me in the back with a wooden board which had rusty old nails in it I have the scars in my back and will for the rest of my life, anyways I started on the Utram and my Dr. told me that they were not addicting and that they were considerd to be a non-narcotic painkiller. Well I was in Wichita KS at that time and had to come home due to the domestic violence Home meaning in the state of IL. I got back home and decided that I would rather live with the back pain rather than to have to take a pill everyday especially a painkiller that is ADDICTING. I went into a medical detox and was withdrawaling very much. I was so weak that after two days I came home from detox and was to weak to even pick up my 7 month old son. After 2 weeks I could not take it anymore that pain in my back and the feelings of weakness and fatigue just got to me too much that I had to start back on the pills again. I found a dr. that recently prescribed me Ultram 50 mg 6 pills a day qty120 with 3 refills. It was like a drug addict getting a fix after so long I feel so much better and I hope that eveything will be ok. I have four children and I need to have the strength and energy for them,it is so scary to know what one little pill can do to you. Good luck honey I hope that you can get through your week before your refill. Hang in there you will be ok.
