Default Ultram

I have been taking Ultram for 10 years for degenerative disc and joint disease.
Recently my doctor wanted me to try Tylenol #3 and gave me 120 per month. I took only 2 and found it does not help my pain at all....
It was a rough few days without my Ultram...

They're both the same exact strength, only taking two isn't a fair trial, your system is just use to the Tramadol. It is a good idea to switch to something else for awhile. The downside to codeine is acetaminophen is bad for your liver.

My mother and I suffer from osteoarthritis in various parts of our bodies.Over the years, we have BOTH found that Ultram works much better for the pain than any of the other pain meds. That includes 45mg. morphine sulfate daily which my doctor prescribed for me. He knows that the Ultram works better for me, but because I also am on Lexapro, there is a contraindication with Ultram. I still get some from my mother to take on occasion which is not harmful to me.

That said, my doctor has not put me on any of the arthritis meds. I am bone on bone in my knees and he feels that they just wouldn't work for me.

I encourage you to have another discussion with your doctor and explain to him/her that Ultram works best for you. Good luck!

I do need knee replacements and I'm only 52,but I'm without insurance right now so the best the Doc has to offer is pain meds. My neighbor.....who is much older than me.....also needs a knee replacement and his doctor put him on Celebrex....I think. He says that it helps him alot. Has anyone ever been on Celebrex?

Mary, have you tried to make some research on natural alternatives for osteoarthritis? Pain reliever offer only symptomatic treatment but do nothing with the cause of cartilage destruction.
