i hope this information helps and that you start feeling much better soon. |
While UP TO 600mg per day administered in four equal doses is acceptable for some extremely depressed patients this is a MAXIMUM dosage and it should be emphasized that this is VERY RARE that a patient take that much trazodone. It's not appropriate to be looking for a "knock out formula" like you refer to this dose as being and I agree with you, 600mg per day is a knock out dose, but totally unnecessary in almost all cases.
I don't want to scare people away from trazodone as I've seen it help lots of people, more for sleep than for anything else, in lower doses between 50mg - 150mg after the patient has slowly been increased. Typically a dr will start a patient at 50mg and increase it very slowly as the patient becomes acclimated to the drug. Very few people really need any more than 100mg.
Just please be very cautious when it comes to suggesting doses of 600mg. That is a LOT of trazodone. It's definitely the exception to the rule that anyone needs that much trazodone. God bless.

| | Trazodone-need help-confused-scared i'v been on trazodone for 4 weeks, started on 50mgs at night, but now im on 225mg at night and 75mg in the morning, total of 300mg a day. which is being increased again on friday 11th of sept. i'm concerned that the dose is going to be higher then most people and i dont seem to hear a lot of positive feedback about trazodone either. not sure what to do? i'm on alot of other meds as well, including serequel, 400mg a day, seroxat 60mg a day, diazepam 15mg a day and zopiclone which is a sleeping tablet which i take at night too. my other meds are for neuro probs, caused by a med i was prescribed by psychiatrist who didnt take the side effects seriously, and it caused parkinsonium disorder, and other probs. do you think that the meds im on interact with each other? im worried that im not taking traz properly? should i allow the increase up to 450 mg a day? im scared and unsure of what to do!
can anyone help me? i would really appreciate it and be very greatfull
thank you x x x |

I have no idea what is wrong with you that you would need medication like that. Are you serious? What are your conditions if I may ask? Just trying to see why you would be taking so much medication. God bless.
