Default Synthroid and Levothroid

I take throid medication for a condition called Hypothroidism. I was reading about throid medication and came across an article that caught my eye. It said that some people must have the brand name Synthroid and CANNOT take the generic version Levothroid. My doctor gives me free samples of the Levothroid. Has anyone else heard anything like this?? Some insurances will not cover a brand name if there is a generic version of the medication.
