Question Suboxone tapering

I have been taking Suboxone for ~2 yrs. (a little less) I never knew how dependent on it I was until I didn't take it for a couple days. I thought I was just getting sick, then tried to go to sleep and tossed and turned all night. Background–Norco 10/325 x 6 per day for 5 years, methadone 9 months, and finally suboxone (~2yrs). When you are not "getting high" from something, ie. Suboxone you forget that you are even being helped by it. I have only been taking about 1mg in the morning. I only have the 8mg tabs and they are very hard to break down to 1 mg. I don't have insurance any longer and don't plan on refilling anyway. I have about 40-50 8mg tabs left. I saw a post on here with regard to tapering but can't find it again. Any help would be appreciated. Don't want to get down to the end of the bottle then start planning. Been there, done that! The withdrawals are substantial from suboxone but I think with some guidance I can get through this. Also an unrelated question. I have gone a couple of days, maybe even three without taking suboxone. I know this is playing with fire but I have taken some Vicodin ES after not taking the sub for the amount of time mentioned above. I don't "get off" on them anymore. I have tried Ultram and they seem to "work" even the day after taking my suboxone. Any idea of the pharmacology behind this?

You need to allow for the half life when you start to detox from the suboxone. Even though you are taking a small dose this still should be done slowly if you are having W/D symptoms when you stop cold. There are about four different threads going right now in the Need to Talk forum that all explain the taper process for suboxone. Read those threads. That is lots easier than writing it all out again. Doing this taper from suboxone is not that hard if you do it properly. Good luck.

Found 'em. Thanks. Not used to message board navigation yet.
