Hi everyone.
I posted in January on behalf of my brother who started on a
Suboxone treatment program after a 10 year painkiller (and other drug) addiction. He was taking 2.5 8 mg pills per day with this treatment program and was going to the clinic once a week for a drug test and counseling for $95 a week (in addition to the cost of Suboxone).
After a month, his unemployment ran out and he had to find a different doctor who would be cheaper. He found one that only requires a monthly visit, so it seemed like a good match.
Had his first appt. two weeks ago and showed the doctor his pill bottle. The doctor said he'd keep him on the same dose. My brother asked to be dropped down to 2 pills a day instead of 2.5. The doctor said okay.
So he got 1/2 of his prescription filled (14 days worth) two weeks ago. When he went to the pharmacy today, they told him he was only supposed to be taking one a day and that they wouldn't give him the rest until two weeks from now. THey called this doctor and the doctor also said he's only supposed to be taking one a day???
So he's out of Suboxone and basically has to quit it cold turkey because they won't give him anymore. He called the doctor himself and the doctor accused him of doctor shopping and basically wants nothing to do with him.
This is sooooo not how this is supposed to work out! He was doing so well. He moved in with us and left his old life behind. He's attending church with us and looking for a job in our area. It was all going so smoothly until now.
He's so upset right now... he was saying how the vicodin he was on was so much cheaper and much less hassle

.
What can we expect for withdrawel symptoms? I have three small children at home, so I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for what's to come with this. You may remember from my other post that we lost a brother to drug overdose last summer, so I'm so worried that he might go back to what he was doing.
Any advice to get through this difficult situation?
Thanks,
Kristy
