| | Suboxone I am on my third day of Suboxone treatment, after being addicted to pain medication for several years. The first time I took it, was 51 hours after having 10mg of methadone. The Doctor wanted me to wait until everything was out of my system. Within 20 minutes after my first dose I went into, what i think was, precipitated withdrawals, which are a horrible thing. Second day, still made me really sleepy with an upset stomach. Doctor told me to take an extra one, which helped alittle. Today is the third day, I am still experiencing a strange feeling in my stomach and drowsiness. I am taking 2 8mgs every morning. I do feel alittle better today, than I have the past few days. I have heard that the first few days some people have problems, but then all the side effects go away after the first week. Does anyone have any info on this?
Thanks!! |

| | by the way, MPVT... I've waited days hopingyou would respond to a post, you seem to know what you're talking about. So any info you or anyone can provide will be appreciated.
Again this is my 3rd day, taking 2 8mgs each morning.
My energy level is very low and of course the constant mental battle. I also seem to get this odd feeling in my stomach and even alittle shaky.
Just fyi..i was taking methadone before going to the suboxone.
Thanks to anyone that can give me some info on suboxone and how long it takes to be in "full effect" and to anyone that just wants to give support! |

| | Try taking just 8mgs in the morning and then 8mgs in the late afternoon. Buprenorphene is totally different then methadone.Remember to not to swallow any of the pill (spit if you have to).Swallowing some of this medicine can upset your stomach. But definately split that dose as that's too much at once...Let me know how your making out....Hang in there, this med will do wonders for you......Dave |

I know it is different for people as for me I was sick my first day I think cause I took to much but my wife was great it takes time for you to get use to it I wish I new more about meth but I don't so I wont pretend I hear it is better than meth for a lot of people but not sure MVPT seems to know a lot about that good luck give it time hope you the best.

| | Hello Dave,
I am a new member and I am on my second detox from oxy and vics. I receieved a higher dose of suboxone,8mgs twice a day, the last time I did this and this time it is 4 mgs twice a day. I have a lot of anxiety that I did not have the first time and I ready a post from you earlier that said it I up the dose slightly I should experience less anxiety? Please let me know what you think....Also it is the blue kind you put under your toungue. Are you supposed to spit that out when it is done dissolving too? If anyone esle has some advice, please let me know. I have a very busy job and the anxiety is awful! Thanks and best of luck to everyone. I was successful last time and this can be beaten. |

| | Hey Rocnpb: Yes I would go to 6-8 mgs twice a day. Also you should always spit out if you have to never swallow the suboxone.Another poster mentioned breaking the pill in half to make it dissolve faster,I have also heard this and it's supposed to work. Just remember not to swallow any of the med as it won't do you any good and can actually upset your stomach.Good luck and let us know how your doing.....Dave |

| | Yay!! Thanks For The Help!! Thanks Dave and Tinkers for replying to me. I think i will try breaking it in half. I did go to the doctor this morning and he changed me to Subutex...i have felt great all day!! He said he felt like it was the Nax.(blocker) in the Suboxone that was making me sick. The Subutex is oval, no orange, flavor and takes alittle longer to dissolve. 20 minutes after taking it i felt better than i had felt in a long time!! With the Suboxone i only felt worse every time i took it.
I do think the 8mg in the morning and 8mg later would be better for me, i think it would also cut down on the mental aspect. Cause here is is 5:00, times to go home..and normally that was a time when i was reaching for pills. Its nice not to have that anymore.
And Tinkers1 I was on pain killers, hydro, oxy, anything for about 4 years and only on methadone for about 6 months. Methadone allowed me to get a grip on my life and finances ...I was a huge fan of methadone, but saw i was taking more and more of it...its just something that i would want to be under a doctors care for. There are only 2 methadone clinics near my house..one is 1.5 hours away the other almost 2 hours away. I couldnt make that drive every morning. They dont like done clinics here in the bible belt.
Anything else you would like to tell me would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
Thanks AGAIN!!!

| | Thanks Dave Tinkers and Brandy,
I have felt a lot better today only adding another 2mgs sub. Spitting out was what was wrong with my stomack and the anxiety is gone. How come a Dr. would not tell you this is pretty lame. This info would help a lot of new people. Thanks again to all....I am doing a lot better!!!! |

| | That's great news that you're feeling better.Alot of doctor's don't really take the time to learn about the meds they prescribe but in all fairness it should be the pharmacist who does this.Main thing is you're feeling better and that's good news anyday.....Dave |

| | down memory lane with methadone and suboxone my husband was a bundle a day user. then i got him to go on methadone. he did go on methadone for about a year. the clinic didn't agree with his job and he found out about suboxone. well, the transformation was a mess. he ended up in the hospital for about 3 days before his body got used to the suboxone. now, 2 years later, suboxone IS and will always be, in my opinion the best thing to come since the automobile.
p.s.
i was also on suboxone, as his habit seemed to roll downhill. i am now weaning myself off of suboxone using vic, as i am finding it is easier to wean off of the vic and be off of everything totally, like i used to be before all this dragon chasing began.
wish me luck. |
