Well, if you only took two doses, you didn't really give it a chance, I know it may have made you feel funny, but those feelings are only temporary side effects, they will wear off as your body adjusts to the med. AS to why the covering doc didn't call you back, they might have seen this as being an uncooperative patient, and nothing obligates them to deal with you. You weren't in a life threatening situation, so they probably figured they would leave you for the regular doc to deal with when he returns.
Almost any pain med you try that is a narcotic, is going to have some type of side effects that you will have to deal with as your body adjusts to the med. It doesn't matter what it is, some of them are easier to tolerate, some harder, but they all do it.
Dilaudid is currently only available in a max of 8mgs by itself.
My advice for the future, is if you know you react badly to the side effects of some meds, as I do to some narcotics, so you are going to have serious trouble with the side effects for awhile, talk to your doc when you are getting the new prescription so you can plan ahead. Along with my
Morphine scrip, I got one for
Meclizine, since it tends to make me unpredictable ill, that is just one of those things that Morphine does to some people, so whenever I start to feel sick to my stomach, I already have a bottle of nausea meds ready and waiting.
You should also not plan to drive or have to do tons of activities that require alertness right away, be prepared to relax for the most part of the first week or two. Most people are past the worst of the side effects in a week, some people require two weeks.
