Question Starting Suboxone; Have a few questions first

Hey all! I'm just trying to prepare myself (physically & mentally) for quitting again.
This time, I've decided to take Suboxone.

I haven't tried it yet, but I got a bottle today of 10 x 8 mg pills so that I'm ready when I'm ready.

Questions About Suboxone:
  1. Can I take Ambien with it (sleep aid)? Will I feel the same usual effects I feel when I take it off Suboxone?
  2. Can I take Adderall with it? Will I feel the same usual effects I feel when I take it off Suboxone?
  3. If for whatever reason (emergency; pain from surgery) I needed a Percocet, how long should I wait before taking 1 after my last Suboxone dose where it would have an effect?
If anyone has any insight to these 3 simple questions, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could share.

Thanks again!

Smile suboxone

I have been taking subutex/suboxone for over a year it works great if you have a great physician that works with you.I have taken lunesta, clonazepam, and chlorazepate and they all have helped me sleep especially when you first start your recovery it is hard to sleep so talk to your doctor and see what works best for you ambien also works but i think the lunesta 2mg works very well without feeling groggy the next day or 1mg to start. If you go to the hosp for injury and need pain meds you must tell them what your taking.I tore my miniscus and took vicidin & percs about 1wk and had to stop u quickly loose control and start taking more and more again so i just stopped immediately and told my doctor. The next day i was back on subutex. So if you take a perc wait 24hrs to start you suboxone again but again check with your doctor first but thats what i did and fortunately i have not looked back.I am now almost off the subutex/suboxone in one month so i am very greatful and lucky for this drug it really works and the doctor will give you meds to grad take you off the suboxone.

Default Suboxone reply

My father in law was on Suboxone as a way to get off oxycontin. He was warned by his doctr that mixing any kind of sedative was very dangerous and could even kill him. He was on Adavan which is a mild nerve pill like Zanax and he was told not to mix the two and the Adavan was replaced with something else that wouldn't hurt to mix.

I am not a doctor but my wife is in allied health at FSU and she says that something about the propeties of Suboxone makes it a bad drug to mix with most anything.

Also this doctor was a Psychiatrist as well so who knows if he was just trying to make sure my father in law was not taking anything else but please, be carefull and at least be monitored if you take a sleeping pill after that painkiller if it even is one.

By the way the Suboxone didn't help with my fathers pain but he is quite tolerant.

Good Luck

Red face 1 hour into Suboxone

So I took my first dose of Suboxone at 9:30 AM today.
I went out for a smoke before hand & I had chills, leg aches & body aches + restlessness.

As far as I can tell, those are gone now. I'm definately not high, but I expect that & it's ok.

I followed my doc's instructions:
Wait approx. 24 hours since your last opoid (percocet 10/325, my deepest & most long lost love, but we got divorced yesterday
Then, take half of a Suboxone for my first dose, which I did. 4mg.

I'm planning on taking the other 4mg before I meet with my parents later this afternoon & a full 8 mg. tomorow morning.

I want to be reintroduced to what we call 'life'.

My fiance & I are about to go out to brunch at a cafe in the park in NYC.

I'll keep my progress posted here in the forum; in this thread or another.

I love you all; thanks for all of the support!

Smile

I've been on suboxone since the beginning of june. it will take your body a lil while to get use to the drug but it is a wonder drug. I was on roxicodone, methadone, and liquid oxycontin for 7 years. the doctor started me on 16mg of suboxone a day. and im already down to 1mg a day and doing strong. i dont know if your doc told you how the medicine works but if he didnt i will. The suboxone is an opiod, just like the percocets. percocets (and all other pain killers) take up 100% of the opiod receptors in your brain and because of that you build a tolerance. suboxone only takes up 75% of the receptors and because of that you never build a tolerance and your tolerance to all other pain killers goes down. it also has another drug in it called noloxone. the noloxone will cause you to go into full blown withdrawl if you take the pill any other way then under your tongue. so do not EVER swallow, crush, snort or shoot it up. I swear by this drug and if it werent of the suboxone i wouldnt have been able to turn my life around like i have. in the short amount of time Ive been on it my fiance and i have bought a house and our relationship has improved by a 100%. Im glad to hear that other people are also on it. any other questions just ask. OH and if you need to take a percocet or something, i dont suggest it. the suboxone has a 36 hour half life. that means that in 36 hours half of the medicine will still be in your system. it would be a waste. if you take a percocet while also taking the suboxone you wont feel the percocet and in turn could be very dangerous. NEVER mix it with other downers. not worth the risk. all of people would just take more and more percocets til they felt something and end up ODing. while n the suboxone just ask your doc if there is a non narcotic pain reliever he can suggest
