My husband suffers neuropathy which manifests as severe pain in his feet (toes mainly), due to nerve damage as a result of disease. Anyway, he has been taking a certain medicine (name I can't remember off hand) which worked but recently has ceased to be totally effective. His doctor just gave him
Cymbalta, 60 mgs. I was surprised as I know this is an antidepressant. Doctor said it is used off label for pain from nerve damage. Anyway, my husband took his first dose yesterday and is absolutely miserable. He had what he called a "weird" and creepy feeling in his body, racing heartbeat with anxiety, at the same time was overly sleepy. He's just all around sick. Its the second afternoon, he hasnt taken it yet today but he's been sleeping most of the day. Not his norm. Does anyone know if these are normal side effects of cymbalta, and if it will get better after awhile? The foot pain from nerve damage is unbearable and stops him from being able to sleep without
ambien and benzo and even then he has trouble so I'm hoping the Cymbalta will work and these side effects will work themselves out. Any information is greatly appreciated.
