Default PLEASE HELP!! - Suboxone Help -

I took a 2 mg Suboxone today..

when I have taken this med before I noticed I could not get any effects what-so-ever when I drink alcohol and no matter how much I drink on it because I am guessing the naxolone blocks the receptors for alcohol as well.

My question is: If I only took that 2mg tab of suboxone only today, how long do I have to wait in order to feel the effects of alcohol normally? Could it be as soon as tomorrow night??

I am worried it will be a while because I read people saying that they can't even feel a bigger dose than usual of vicodin, percocet, ETC. even a week or two or more after using this medication. Will this be the same with alcohol or will I feel the effects of alcohol normally if I drink tomorrow?

Please help if you know anything about this! This would really help me a lot!

Thanks!

colinnater .... Naloxone is sometimes used during alcohol detox too. I personally wouldn't worry any about lingering effects of naloxone coming from a 2mg dose of suboxone taken the day before. It's a fast acting medication compared to the long lasting effects of buprenorphine in suboxone. There is such a small amount of naloxone in that small suboxone dose that it shouldn't last beyond 24 hours as you described.

People talking about how long it takes following a suboxone dose to feel opiates working are not referring to the effects of the naloxone. Its the Buprenorphine that works on the opiates. Naloxone simply causes a precipitated w/d if the user injects the suboxone. Thats about it.

I don't understand exactly how you are taking suboxone. It sounds as if its just a sparadic thing? No matter but that could affect how different substances react, Good luck.

Robert, Thats exactly right and makes a bunch of sense. I thought it was always the naxalone but really it's kicking up the tollerance over a period of time. Thanks so much, Robert that was a lot of help!!

Anyways I do take it just sometimes just for the effects.. Is this really bad?

Don't know that I could honestly say how bad it is for you physically to take suboxone occasionally. I can't imagine what effects you would want to pay for from a buprenorphine high. What do you like about it? Just curious. I did subutex for detox but tried the suboxone. I just didn't see anything about it that I would want to repeat over and again recreationally.
