Default oXYCODONE 5 MG VS LORATAB 10MG

Which of the two is stronger? I am currently taking the loratab for endometriosis and ovarian cyst (that are extremely troublesome). I ran out of my loratab over the weekend and am currently at work and my lower back feels like its about to break in to pieces. My sister gave me a 5mg Oxycodone but I am afraid to take it. I am only used to taking Vicodin and the Loratab. Just need to know how the Oxycodone will affect me as I am at work. But it's either take it and gets some relief...or go home!!! I am assuming since it's scored that I can break it???

The Lortab 10 has a slight advantage, oxycodone is roughly a little less then twice as strong as hydrocodone.
Yes, that's why they score pills, so they can be halved, CR's are never scored for that reason.

Hi!

I've been prescribed nearly every pain medication, opiate and non-opiate, under the sun for an old knee injury from nearly 7 years ago, so I hope my experiences can be of help..

As the above poster stated, oxycodone is ~2x as strong per unit weight compared to hydrocodone. If 10mg hydrocodone takes care of your pain and leaves you reasonably able to function at work, 5mg oxycodone should treat you similarly. I've noticed, however, that hydrocodone tends to leave me a bit more "loopy" than does oxycodone, which seems to have a slightly more stimulant effect for me. Good luck!

The loopy feeling you describe is from the hydrocodone/acetaminophen mix. Oxycodone doesn't have any apap with it. God bless.
