Is there a medication similar to vicodan, but longer lasting? I've been on vicodan for so long that its no longer effective in supressing my breakthrough pain. Is Darvocet stronger? Lorcet? I'm really looking for something that I need only take a couple times a day when the breakthrough pain pokes its ugly little head out. TIA for your help!

I am on hydrocodone 10's & I recently was put on percocet 10 for breakthrough pain. Its working wonderfully! I'm not sure what kind of pain issues you have though; it could be completely different for your type of pain.

FYI- Lorcet is just a different *brand* of vicodin. They both have hydrocodone and they both have apap (tylenol)

Darvocet is a mild narcotic, not as strong as what you are taking now.

From what I read, I would say you have 2 options. You can switch from Vicodin (ES-HP) to Lorcet. Option 2 is continue with the Vicodin and ask your doctor for percocet for breakthru pain. Hope this helped. Kevin.
