Default new xanax rx

I have a RX for .5 mg of Xanax once or twice a day. I usually only need it at night. Any addiction danger there?

I started off at .25mg and gradually had to work my way up, I've only been taking it prescribed for about a month and I've been put on 2mg tablets although I wanted the dose to be .5mg. The reason being is because all the addiction symptoms I read about were because of early high dosages which the patient (us) starts off at.

On the part of addiction, I would start off at a real low dosage and only take it when needed to keep you're tolerance low, I started out out at .50mg and thought it was just right. My psych wanted me to take 2MG tablets, 4 times a day. But that would seriously knock me out and I know better that it will cause an addiction.

Don't get me wrong, my psych has a lot of wisdom, the reason being is that he wanted the higher MG tablets because you won't be treated like a junkie when you get you're prescription filled. When I was given a rx of 240 .25 tablets I had a panic disorder because every pharmacy I went to said they didn't have it or said to go somewhere else. It ruined me for days.

When I did get my prescription filled, it was a different generic and went into chest pains & seizures.

The worst thing about this drug is a small whisper about you taking it and everyone thinks you're a junkie. They don't understand you're problems.

ofcourse there will be if you start taking 2 a day every single day. If you only use one at a time only as needed you'll be fine. Upping your dose of xanax is only starts to add to a need that will need to be filled with 1mg twice a day till your at an even higher dose. xanax is one of worst drugs to withdrawl from. I high dose cold turkey xanax withdrawl is similiar to an average pain killer withdrawl. Only you can get seizures with xanax. My point is, just remember to take it easy with them before one loses control. NOBODY is immune to xanax addiction no matter how much they may say it. Not to say your saying that, just that if you've never been addicted to anything that thought may cross your mind.

I took 1 mg last night and I am STILL feeling it at 10 am this morning. There is no way I could tolerate more than that a day. I think your suggestion to take .5 mg only when needed is the safest way to go. Thank you.

Cool, I'm glad to hear your gonna be safe with them. You'll thank yourself down the road because as you up your dose you need more and eventually they lose their effect BUT if you stop taking them by then you will suffer w/d. People refer to xanax as handcuffs. They were suppose to free you from anxiety but for some it created a worse problem and multiplied the anxiety/insomnia. Good choice.

YES!!! Xanax is meant for short term use only. Even a small dose of xanax can cause addiction. Xanax withdrawels are terrible, so please try to avoid taking daily.
