Is he willing to see a doctor? They might be just the help he needs. I hope he gets through this. Best wishes.

I've never heard of Neurofen so I did a search, it appears to be an OTC product containing pseudoephedrine/ibuprofen. It not being a strong drug of any kind, quitting it should be fairly easy physically, I'm guessing he has a mental addiction to it mostly. You don't say why he's taking it, so I can't offer any help there, but if he has problems talking to his own wife, which is unusual, you should get him in to see a MD or maybe a psychologist, because somethings wrong, but first get him off the Neurofin and see if his communication skills improve. I guess on your own meanwhile keep talking to him, push him, try to make him open up and speak, have him read out loud to you, ask him lots of questions, etc.

No, it's the one with codeine in it, hence the addiction. Have you read a book called Crucial Conversations? Do a search on Amazon or Google. Great book, helps you talk to others about sensitive topics like this without putting him on the defensive.

Addiction is a real beast. Try to get your husband to stop, as taking that much ibuprofen (let alone codeine) long term is not healthy. Ibuprofen will rip up the stomach and intestines and cause kidney damage if taken continuously over time.
