My Dr switched me over from lexapro(20mg/day) to wellburtin(300mg/day) and added Phendimetraz (105mg/day), within 1 or 2 days at the most I was in the most down mood, hated evdryone and everything, everything pissed me off, I was angry at the littlest things, and was taking more and more xanax 2mg pills to try to counteract the situation which was working But that meant instead of trying to be a good boy and only take three 2mg xanax a day, I was up to five or six 2mb xanax a day and still had some irritation but not much. I had a lot of anger.

My Dr is away until July 21st so I called his RN's and they said to stop taking the wellburtin and go back to the lexapro, but while I feel better today, I dont feel like I did before, so Im wondering if it could be the appetite suppressant, phendimetraz thats causing this.

I started both these drugs on the same day, and used them for about 6 days, Im still taking the phendimetraz, but Im not nearly as irritated as I've been when I switched to wellburtin. Was it just a withdrawl I was going through, the DR said that the lexapro wouldnt wear off for about 2 weeks, but if it was that it seems to have worn off in 1 day.

Or could it be withdrawl syndrom from xanax, Im use to taking 4 to 5 2mg pills a day, one was replaced with restoril to help me sleep, and the DR said he'd like to see me on 3 2mg pills per day, so I tried it at the same time I introduced the new medication, and cut my dose from 4 to 3 a day (sometimes 4, but mostly 3 if I was feeling okay, until this situation came up)

Now Im looking at running out of xanax 1 week early before the Dr COMES back from vacation and thats got me in a panic that Im going to have siezures or worse die.

Any clues?

You situation is the exact reason why you should never start two drugs at the same time, especially psych. drugs. All drugs can cause side effects and when you take more than one drug there can be drug interactions. If you start two at one time and have side effects as you did, which were quite significant, you have no way of knowing which drug is causing it or if it is the combination of both drugs.

Do you have a psychiatrist prescribing your meds for you. If not, you should and if you do, I might consider see someone new. My doctor would never do that and neither should have yours.

Good Luck, I hope you can get on something that helps and makes you feel better without troubling side effects. Wellbutrin is an excellent anti-depressant that does not have the weight gain or sexual side effects that the SSRI's do. I am not familiar with the other medicine you doctor put you on with the Wellbutrin, but I have never heard of such a reaction from someone on Wellbutrin. The only way you will ever know, is if you wean off the med you are on and start just the Wellbutrin and see what happens. All this should be done under the close supervision of a good psychiatrist.
