Mood Stabilizer Topamax?

I have a mental disorder called schizoaffective. I'm on a mood stabilizer called Topamax. However I do not take it because it makes me tired and I feel like a zombie. On the other hand I never really have enough energy anyway. Does anyone know of a mood stabilizer that doesn't have this side effect? Or do they all?...Thank you

i have the same dianioses as you have but i was on topamax and it made me here voices and see things ask you doc to try you on lamictal its a mood sablizer with haredly any side effects my husband and son are on it and it works great for them! good luck!

You might also try Depakote ER. Lamictal does have some drawbacks. The potential for Stevens-Johnson syndrome, rash in general, as well as other SE's. Lamicatal has a complicated dosing strategy and it doesn't work on your symptoms, is very difficult to add other drugs to it.
