Default Lexapro withdrawel help?

Hey,

I am new here but am looking for some help with getting off lexapro.
my dr. put me on it for teeth grinding caused by general anxiety. I was not depressed in anyway actually very happy person! I took 5 mg for about 6 weeks and begin to notice i wasn't myself anymore.

I had less stress but didn't care about anything! My son is hurt, don't care. My wife is upset, don't care. I have work that needs to get done, don't care.

I did tell my dr. but he said get a mouth guard and stay on the drug. I am getting the mouth guard but decided against his judgement and am getting off lexapro. I took my dose every other day for a week and then stopped.
I have since been extremely tired and have had headaches and feel in a fog all the time. I normally get up at 4:30 AM and workout but since being off i get 9 to 10 hours sleep and wake up exhausted! I am thinking just drink some herbal teas to relax and ride this out.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to speed this up or how long it may take to get through this?

First, I need to know how long you have been off of lexapro? when was your last pill? The good news is that you were on lexapro short term. Because of that the withdrawl symptoms should not be long term or terribly difficult. ( everyone is different but, generaly speaking, the longer you took the med, the harder it is to quit and worse withdrawls) Magnesium/ calcium supplement will help calm some of the anxiety as well as relax the muscles. Try to get one with vitamin D for best absorption. Fish oils, omega 3+6 are proven to help brain function (and so many other benefits) Good quality multi-vitamin is a must and I personaly take lecithin...It is the building block of biotin and inositol both of which help the CNS run smoothly, and lecithin helps cleans the liver of fats etc, Great if you have high cholesteral. If you can tell me what withdrawl type symtpoms you are having then, I can better advise on how to get through them and how long they may last....let me know...Peace...ERin

Thanks for your response. My last pill was last wednesday. My symptoms are best described as how one would feel while having a viral illness. Achyness (nothing major) and mostly the cloudy head and headaches very similar to sinus pressure. There may be some sinus pressure that is honest. I have had sinus and allergies for a while and this is not what is going on here.

The best way I've found for antidepressants is to taper slowly. Try going a week with one pill every 2 days, the next week try 1 pill then 2 days later a half, followed by 2 days another full pill, that type of tapering and it makes the withdrawal much easier to cope with. You can't really get away from feeling a bit ********************py for a week or two but if you taper it makes you able to function.
