Default Lexapro to Paxil....HELP!!!!

Hey guys. Over the past few days I have reading your Lexapro Withdrawl posts. I need some help...reassurance. About 2.5 weeks ago my GP took me off Lexapro 15 (was on 5 months) and put me back on paxil Cr 25. There was no weening. It was quit Lex start Paxil. On Friday, I began feeling really agitated. I was shaky all day Sat and Sunday. Could this be withdrawl...even though I began another med? How long will this last? Is this going to get better? Anybody else been here? I am really feeling end of rope here...could use friends, reassurance, suggestions and HOPE!!!

Thanks. But, that's what I said in the first line. That's all I've been doing for the last few days is reading the lex withdrawl posts. just haven't really found anything that relates exactly to switching to a new drug and how that effects withdrawl. Any advice?

Maybe you should talk to your doctor.

Dizzy,

My psy thinks it is a transition phase. My GP doesn't. But, I have heard a lot of people who found their GP's didn't really give much to side effects/withdrawl. It is ALWAYS good advice to talk to your doc...I completely agree. Was just wondering if anyone else had been through this...maybe someone to say, "The same thing happened to me. Don't worry, it will pass."

And, sorry if I sounded irritable. I am not meaning to me. I appreciate any advice...truly. Just a young girl who's scared and alone.

I was also very agitated when I first started Paxil. I had terrible stomache pains (like a punch in the stomache) and a general feeling of discomfort. I also experience delayed orgasms as well.

The delayed orgasms get worse as time progresses, but the stomache pain, agitation, and general discomfort seem to have lessened.

It may be the Prilosec helping the stomache pain...

It was my first and only SSRI, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

---

I am currently taking 20mg of Paroxitine HCL (Paxil). I have tried 25mg CR, 20mg, and 40mg.

My side effects are delayed orgasm and lack of motivation.

The Paxil seems to cure my anxiety in low stress situations, but makes it worse in high-stress situations.

The side effects on the 40mg were more intense. In addition to the above listed side-effects, I got minor headaches and a much more sedated feeling with no additional benefits.

Ask me anything, I would love to help you with my experiences.
