Default Lexapro and alcohol

Hi All,

I recently switched Zoloft to Lexapro for treatment of generalized anxiety and depression. I had been taking Zoloft for over 3 years and I think it had lost it's effect. In any case, I've been on the Lexapro for about a month now, and I think it's working quite well! I'm on 10 mg--and my mood is relatively stable and I don't seem to get as anxious about day-to-day situations. However, for me, the interaction with alcohol has been very strong. I don't drink excessive amounts of alcohol, but I enjoy having a glass or two of wine when out to dinner or an occasional cocktail with friends. I was able to drink just fine on the Zoloft, but with the Lexapro I get *very* sleepy and my head starts swimming after just a few sips of wine. Both medications warn against using alcohol in combination, so obviously I should avoid it. I also take Depakote for a seizure disorder, but have always been able to have a few drinks with no problem. I'm just wondering if others have had similar experiences with Lexapro? Thanks!
