Default How do U know what is right for acid reflux?

I generally take generic Prilosec. Don't have a prescription this month so it is REALLY expensive!!! (RiDICulously expensive!) so I bought a generic Zantac. I'm not sure that I've stuck to those dose instructions on the box (I may have taken it 3 times in the last few days instead of 2 and it says to only take 2 a day) I have not felt very good in the past few days but I don't think it's because of taking too 1 extra zantac (still one never knows???). I haven't been able to eat much and have had stomach cramps. I guess I don't know much about acid reflux other than when I take Prilosec, I am fine and can eat or drink anything (cannot drink coffee without it). I have felt fine tho until Friday and have gone for 2 weeks w/o the prilosec, which is why I don't think the way I feel has anything to do with lack of prilosec. My real questions are: 1) what is the difference between these two?, 2) what are side effects of Zantac? Any info and/or opinions would be helpful. Thanx~Mara
