| | EXPERIENCES WITH ADDERALL I am a 54 yr old woman with major depression, and for quite a few years suspected that I had ADHD, probably all my life. Never able to stay focused. I take Wellbutrin, Lexapro, Valium, Trazodone, (Lipitor, and Synthoid- different doctor). I have been under this same doctor for my mental illness for 5 years, and trust him very much. He started me on AdderallXR 15mgs per day. I am actually feeling like my old self, - outgoing, fun, and happy. I began getting very, very bad headaches 3 weeks ago, and ended up at the ER, for which they gave me a shot of diluaden (sp)and another pain shot, I don't remember the name. I followed up with my regular doctor, and he gave me a shot of Immetrix! I had a very, very bad reaction to the shot, and from that day till yesterday (6 days) I felt as though I had totally crashed down to my major depression, very irritable, weepy, loss of reasons to live. I was still taking the Predisone, the ER doc had prescribed AND a drug for migraines- ESGIC (which I had NEVER had before) Today without those other medications,(the Predison and Esgic) I feel myself again, but have had some side effects that I didn't experience BEfore the ER prescribed those other meds. I should say, I have NOT had a headache since. I am NOT a nail biter, which now are bitten pretty short, and constantly chewing on side of my fingernails. I also feel more antsy, and racing thoughts. I don't want to give up the Adderall, but, I was wondering if any other ADULTS have experienced these side effects? The pysch docs nurse said these are most likely caused by the shot of Immetrix and the meds the ER gave me. It has been over 10 yrs, since I have felt such purpose, and meaning again in my life, so you can understand the need to want to stay on with it. Also, my heart seems to be racing more, although all the blood pressure checks come out normal. ANYONE ABLE TO GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK WOULD BE WONDERFUL!! I am Estatic to have found this site!! Again, thanks for any help someone could provide.

| | That's what amphetamines do to people who DON'T have ADHD. Nervousness, racing thoughts, fast heartbeat, anxious habits like nail biting or window checking.

| | hi there, im a mid age woman, who is prescribed adderall xr 10 mg.i first started taking ritalin 10 mg, which lifted my severe depression almost imediatly. but then i started getting nervous and really hungry and nauseated. so then i tried the adderall xr.the first day it effected me alot different than the ritalin.i felt stoned all day, then at 4pm it wore off and i was extremely nervous the rest of the night, with alot of pulling, cramps in my stomach. i couldnt even sleep that night, i remember thinking, oh my god, they really give this stuff to kids.i waited a few days, then tried it again, im a little more used to it, but it now makes me nervous after 3 hours, my mind and heart races, i feel horrible, every nerve in my body seems frayed and it makes me feel sweaty at times.if the side effects are too bad, tell your dr. there are alot more different meds to try, that may work better. |

| | I am a college student and a lot of my friends get prescribed adderall. they don't actually need it they just pretended to have ADD so that they could get the adderall cause it helps them study. I take Adderall whenever I have to study for a big test or when i have to take a big test. I usually take maybe one pill once a month. I am not too fond of stimulants and usually enjoy depressant drugs much much more. But everytime i take adderall i get headaches when im coming down (in the night time) i usually just take some 40-60mgs of oxycodone to combat the ****ty effects felt by the after-effects of amphetamines. |
