Cutting Oxy in half

I know about the whole time release thing but ive got a 40mg pill and I would like to make it into two 20mg pills. Will cutting it in half cause some seriouse problems like an overdose or make me sick?

Then you know that breaks the time release, it will be more like taking a 20mg Oxycodone IR.
It all depends on how opiate naive you are.
