Does anyone know anything about the medication buspar? My doc. is thinking about adding that along with my current AD prozac. Are there any bad side effects? Any info. would help.

I am currently taking xanax for anxiety and sometimes I feel like it puts me in somewhat of a stupor. I tried to take buspar several times because I heard that it doesn't give you as much of the dazed feeling xanax can cause, but I didn't like the way it made me feel. It made me jumpy in a wierd sort of unpleasant way, it's hard to describe. And when I took a whole 15 mg bar it put me to sleep. As well, it didn't really help with my anxiety as much as my xanax does. One positive is that Buspar didn't put me in a stupor, so in small amounts it would probably be good for situations where you want to be alert. This is just my personal experience with Buspar, maybe others have had better experiences with it. Here's a link with information about side effects of Buspar.

I have been on Buspar for 9 years and have never had any problems with it. I think it is a very good medication
