I took Ambien for 3 years, several years ago and it was getting off of it. I was not informed it was a short term pill and assumed my doctor knew what he was doing.
When I took it I had to get right in the bed, otherwise I would sit up in a chair (was told by my daughter) with my eyes closed and talked to everyone I ever knew and got a little irate at times.
She said I would talk as though they were right in front of me...
Awful drug, just awful...

We are unfortunately now hearing that frequently about ambien. I have taken it frequently too for a severe insomnia problem to keep from taking xanax, and it makes me squuirrely the nest day, and sometimes I get up and do and say things I do not remember. I do believe the news stories when they say they were driving on Ambien and the last thing they remember was going to bed. I believe soon that it will come out just how bad it is. I spoke with a geriatric nurse friend of mine who works at a nursing home, and she said it severely screws up the paltlients they have ont it. Not susre if Lunesta is better, you may wish to try it. Bestr of luck, hopefully someone willbe able to offer more positive advice.

My doctor put me on Desyrel for sleep and it works wonders and is not addictive. It is an antidepressant but I am taking it for sleep disorder. Working well. After taking the given dosage I am sleepy in 10 minutes and dont wake up all night long.
