Default Am i addicted to painkillers ?

I have what is known as an addictive personality. Since puberty i have always used somthing to get me out of reality, cannabis, alcohol, cocaine, exctacy. although i have grown up a lot in the past year and fought off an awful cocaine and alcahol binge addiction, over the past year or so i started to get severe pain to the back and started using painkillers. As my personality predicts,i think i am now going down the road of abusing them.I am taking them now even when i am not in pain and asking family and friends for any supplies they might have. Can anyone confirm my worries and give me any useful tips on what to do, as my partner and child have been through enough to tell them about this, as they are so proud of me kicking my other bad habits. Age 32, 10 x 30/500 co- codomol per day.

As you say you've been through addictions before and judging from your post I would say you're on your way to opiate addiction. You want to avoid this at all cost as it will totally consume you.I have been an addict for 26 years with the last 4 being controlled with methadone.I'm only 43 and I have totally screwed my life up.It's only been in the last 4 years that I've been able to get things back on track. You would be best off going cold turkey as you haven't been taking them long enough to be in full blown addiction.Make sure you have imodium ad and advil, lots of fluids especially sport drinks like gatorade. If you're having trouble sleeping then try Tylenol PM as I heard quite a few people have used it successfully while detoxing.Do this asap because you sound like a nice young person and it would be a terrible waste to see you go into addiction.Good luck and if you have any questions then don't hesitate to ask......Dave

I HAVE PROBS WITH SEVERLY DIGENERATED DISKS IN MY BACK. I HAVE BEEN ON PAIN KILLERS STARTING WITH 7.5 FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS THEN 10/650 FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS, AND NOW I AM SLOWLY WEENING MYSELF OFF OF THEM, DOWN TO TAKING 1/2 7.5/340 3 TIMES TO ONCE IN A WHILE 4 TIEMS, A DAY! MY BEST ADVICE TO YOU IS DON'T QUIT COLD TURKEY, IF YOU ARE AN ADDICT IN THE PAST IT WILL JUST BE WAY TOO HARD. TAKE LESS, MUCH LESS THATN YOU ARE TAKING, SLOWLY LOWER YOUR INTAKE UNTILL YOU DO NOT TAKE THEM ANYMORE, THAT IS WAHT I AM DOING. I SUGGEST TO SUPLEMENT THE PAIN THAT YOU AHVE TAKE SOME IBROPROPHEN TOO. IT IS HARD ON YOUR STOMACH, SO DO NOT TAKE TOO MUCH! THERE ARE HERBASLS THAT CAN HELP WITH BACK PAIN TOO. LICORICE ROOT, SLIPERY ELM, AND RED CLOVER ARE THREE GOOD ONES! ANOTHER THING THAT SOME PEOPLE DO, ALTHOGUH IT SMELLS BAD, IS TO USE CRUSHED RED PEPPER IN A LITTLE WATER, AND IT IS RECOMENEDED TO MIX IN THE OTHER 3 HEBRS I JUST SAID, MAKE LIKE A SWAB FOR YOUR BACK! IT DOES FEEL GOOD, BUT SMELLS TERRIBLE. YOU MAKE ALSO TAKE THE OTHER HERBALS ORALY. THEY HELPED ME A TON, WITH PAIN AND CIRCULATION. I GOT TO A POINT THAT I WAS SO NUMB I COULD BARELY MOVE, AND THE HERBALS, HELPED MORE THAN THE HYDROCODONE! BUT SERIOUSLY, GET OFF THAT ****, IT IS GRABAGE, AND TERRIBLE FOR YOUR LIVER! TAKE IT FROM AN ADDICT ON THEM THINGS, WEEN YOURSELF OFF, BUT WEEN YOUSELF OFF FAST, THE FASTER YOU ARE OFF THEM THE BETTER. EXPECIALY IF YOU HAVE PAST HABBITS. A LOT OF PEOPLE START USING HYDROS AND NOT ONLY WANT OTHER OPIATES, BUT THEY WANT CRACK/COKEAINE! I AM DEALING WITH THAT WITH MY BOYFRIEND RIGHT NOW, AND IT IS SO HARD! I MAY HAVE TO JUST LEAVE HIM. I WISH YOU LUCK! TYLONOL IS TERRIBLE FOR YOUR LIVER!

I started selling weed when I was fourteen, and although I never really did any other drugs habitually besides marijuana, I followed the same path addicts follow in drug abuse but I followed it in selling drugs. I started with marijuana, then moved up to harder drugs, and once I got ahold of a bottle of 250 hyrdocodone 10/500. Initially i took them for my back problems and cramps, but then ran out of actual excuses and began eating all of them myself. I wasn't selling any of them, and eventually my entire day's diet consisted of pills in the morning with a cracker and water, pills in the afternoon with a cracker and water, and pills at night with a cracker and water. I put more pills than food into my body, weightwise. I think I was intoxicated with the abundance of drugs I had, until I ran out. I refused to believe that I was addicted, because I had always taken pride in being able to do any drug I wanted and stop whenever, cocaine, meth, even black tar opium straight from Asia. Unfortunately, I went through withdrawal, which I can tell you is the most unp-leasant experience in my life. I wasn't able to sleep, and felt pure black depression that I'll never be able to describe. Diarrhea, cramps, fever, chills, tremors, fatigue, vomiting, nausea, and trying to keep it from all of my friends and family was quite a trick.

It's the loneliest road I've ever walked. I still struggle. I was just thinking about trying to get some more oxies earlier today. How sweet that would be, the floating, hot feeling that puts a white cloud around everything and forces me to be happy. But it will kill you. You will die. If that's not enough for you to seek help or stop, then choose the high, I think either choice is satisfactory.

Jesus Christ will help you through. -Betsy

HEY THERE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE ADDICTED AND YOU WILL PROBABLY NEED HELP TO GET OFF OF THEM. EVERY PERSON IS DIFFERENT IN THE WAY THAT ONE MED WILL WORK OR HOW YOUR BODY WILL REACT TO NOT TRAKING THE MEDS THAT YOU WERE ON. GETTING OFF OF AN OPIATE IS THE HARDEST THING EVER. MY DRUG OF CHOICE IS ULTRAM AND YOU KNOW THEY SAY THAT ULTRAM IS A NON-NARCOTIC PAINKILLER BUT IT DOES HAVE OPIATE INGREDIENTS SO THAT IS WHY IT CAN BE HABIT FORMING. WHEN I FIRST STARTED TAKING THE ULTRAM I WAS TOLD BY MY DOC THAT HE DID NOT MIND PRESCRIBING ME AS MANY FOR AS LONG AS I NEEDED BECAUSE THE ULTRAM WAS NOT ADDICTING AND THAT THEY WERE NON-NARCOTIC. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO STOP AND IT HAS BEEN A YEAR NOW THEY ARE ADDICITING AND IF YOU FEEL AS THOUGH YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT THEM OR YOU EXPERIENCE THE WITHDRAWAL SYMTOMS WHEN YOU DO NOT HAVE THEM THEN YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. YOUR FAMILY HAS NOT NOTICED THAT YOU ARE ASKING THEM FOR THEIR PAINKILLERS? PLEASE GET HELP NOW BECUASE YOU ARE ADDICTED AND THE HABIT IS ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE. kEEP YOUR HEAD UP AND REMEMBER THINGS DO GET BETTER BU T THE SOONER THAT OYU STOP TAKING THEM THE BETTER YOUR BODY WILL HANDLE THE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS OK GOOD LUCK GOD BLESS YOU!!!!

Default Well, what happened?

Did you investigate? Are you still on them?
I, too, am asking myself these questions. I've been in recovery and clean for six years. I built so much up in my business that I recently decided to get porcelin veneers. $40,000 worth. Well, what do you think I got with the veneers? Percocet. And, I absolutely love the calming effect it has on me at home with family! They notice, suddenly, I'm very interested in them because my business is removed from my mind! We all just love me!! So, what the devil do I do now??
Anyway, I'm curious what your result was or is turning into. Let me know.
