Amphetamines As you probably know already, Adderall is an amphetamine. I think that the Adderall "speeds" up their normal feelings, physical and mental. Therefore, after spending time "speeding" through their day they end up being tired a lot sooner. My son is 18 years old, and 250lbs. He takes 30mg in the morning and comes home from college and ALWAYS takes a nap. I like to think of it as him being tired from all the concentrating he's doing in class..... Perhaps the 10mg is too strong. XR means its time released, so I don't know if he should be "coming down" so quickly either. Check w/your doctor. Just a side note: I knew from the age of 5 that my son had A.D.D. He always did well in school, so I never had him diagnosed or treated until very late in his teenaged years. (That is when HE realized it). I wish I would have taken the proper steps earlier to get him help. I am now sure he would have been much further along in his studies in high school. I just thought he was struggling normally, until he brought to my attention that he could no longer focus. Hugs,
