Adderall in drugtest? I will be taking a drug test for a job (that I really want) that I am applying for in the future.
My concern is that I am taking prescription Adderall.
I have heard people say that taking Adderall can cause certain unfavorable ratings on common drug tests. (In which category I am unsure but i can only assume something related to the illegal drug 'speed' for its amphetamine content)
Is this true?
I am concerned that if they see poor results on my drug test, they will automatically, without consulting me, disregard my application.
So I guess my main question is:
is it true that Adderall will show up on a drug test?
I know generally a drug test searches for illegal drugs; but i want to make sure that Adderall will not show up as an illegal substance.
Thank you in advance for your help.
I appreciate your time.

It won't matter because it's prescribed to you.Take the prescription with you when you do the test and show them.Everything should be fine.Actually take all of the meds you take with you.Good luck on the job......Dave -
Just to add to what the above poster mentioned- If there are any concerns about the drug test, the hiring company can always choose to have the sample run through a GC/MS testing facility in order to nail down which "amphetamine" is being taken. -
Just have proof that you are taking prescribed Adderall (script bottle and/or even a letter from your doctor) and all should be fine ..
I ran into this problem when I had to take a drug test to be a staff nurse at a hospital, which i work at now. I told them up front about taking Adderall and supplied them with my doctor's name and phone number as well as my prescription bottle. They didn't say anything. Just to thank me for supplying the information. -
You should have nothing to worry about. I did have to bring my prescription bottle(s) to the lab required by my perspective employer. I filled out typical forms, which included me recording all prescribed medications & the name, address, tel#, etc. of the prescribiing physician. I had a good conversation with two of the technicians at the lab. They explained how the entire process works...with regard to employer required lab testing. None of your medical information is released to the employer...it would be against a federal law (HIPPA) They can only "flag" a report as questionable (provided there was no credible physician info,) and give no details...at all. -
Dont know if this reply comes in time to be useful, but yes, it will show up in drug tests. You should be able to tell the testing place about the meds you are taking, but I had the same problem taking a drug test to be a pharmacy tech, and had to show my boss my prescription for it. As long as you have a valid rx you should be fine
