Default Worries about My sister

I think my sister is addictied to pain medication. The probelm is that she does have back problems. So when she says she needs something for her pain it's hard to tell her no. I see that she carries a large bag of pills in her purse. I know that she goes to many differant doctors so that they can prescipt more things for her. I have no idea how to deal with this, or to see if there is really a problem. She getts very defenseive on anything about her. IF anyone can help with this I would very thankful.

Do her doctor's know she is seeing other docs and getting more prescriptions? This is very dangerous, your doc should always know everything you are taking, and you should always use the same pharmacy so they can keep track of any interactions for you.

One thing you may want to consider, if she is doctor hopping, that is getting meds from more than one, without the other docs knowing, is to call the docs offices and fill them in on this. They can check with other docs offices, as well as pharmacies to verify the situation, and they will be able to speak to her about it.

On the other hand, if these are all legitimately prescribed from docs who are all aware of each other, and know about all her meds, then this is a normal occurence for chronic pain sufferers, and she may really need all those meds.

My information is not guaranteed correct. I do not get them right all the time, but I do enjoy the hunt~
