Red face Vicodin not working...

OK, so I am in the hospital at the moment... and I am in a ton of pain all day long, regardless if I take my Vicodin, which I may say I take two, 7.5/325 MG Vicodin at a time. And it does not help with my leg pain. They just increased the dose today, and unfortunatly it is not working whatsoever. It maybe works for about an hour, and my leg starts hurting again.

So.. I don't know how to explain to the doctor that it is not working... I am sort of afraid too. But I absolutely hate it when my nurse says, "you still have another 2 hours or so..".. and my pain on the scale is an 8 most of the time... and way before my next dose of Vicodin..

What can I do? What can I tell my nurse?

Be honest. That is the only way you will possibly get what you need.

what type of surgery or treatment did you have?? i had both hips replaced so im not a stranger to pain. there is alot of things involved here. like are you currently taking the meds at home on a regular basis or a abuser? if you just went into the hospital and you are not used to taking pain medicine then the doctors have to be carefull not to over medicate. but anyway if you are still in pain then tell the nurse to contact the doctor on call and have them ask for a stronger dose. they make hydrocodone in a 10 miligram tablet and sometimes they work better than taking two of the 7.5 together. go figure? but if that doesnt help then they can always give you something stronger you just have to complain about it. but of course nowadays everybody is a drug attict to doctors and nurses. so you just have to keep complaining untill somebody gets off their ass and helps you. i wish you the best of luck and let us know how youre doing. god bless and take care i will pray for you.
