Question vic addiction..day 9

I feel okay, except i still want vicodin or some kind of nice strong opiate. I am no longer on the soma. i am on lyrica, which I have been kind of abusing, takeing more than I should, because it calms my nerves. I cant get my klonopin until the 13th. When will i stop wanting drugs?

Have you been to any NA or AA meetings. They really do help.We all have the same thoughts when we get clean.Working a 12 step program and the support from other addicts really help with those mental cravings you are having.Good luck to you.

Default dont like AA

I just feel uncomfortable with alot of people. I get anxious. I should tell my shrink so i can see a therapist. But I am afraid he'll stop giving me klonopin, which i do need.

Ok so you don't like AA or NA. Join the club, neither does hardly anyone else when they start going. So how is being an addict working for you? Do you like that better?

I'm seriously not trying to be a wise guy. But listen to yourself. Your abusing the drugs you're getting, your personal dr knows nothing about the lyrica according to your other thread, you're acting just like an addict.

You need to decide if you want to get clean or not and if you really want to get clean then you do whatever in the world it takes ... NO EXCEPTIONS! Whatever it takes. IF you aren't willing to do that then you should just use and quit torturing yourself. I mean that with all due respect. I want you to get clean but it's NOT going to happen with you babying yourself. Either do it or don't do it. God bless.

I understand what you are saying. But honestly I dont know I f I would even have time to attend a meeting. I am a full time student, with a 16 month old and I do not have a car.
As to the lyrica, yes I am taking more than I should, I do plan to stop that, because I do need it for real pain, and if I over due it It may not work. Plus I am still acting like an addict, even if its not vics.
But I am still better than what I was. I am not completely there but I am trying, so back of a bit.
Thank you for your comments though.

Default Hi Shybaby

I am sorry you are in distress, but give AA (or NA) a shot. It is only one hour out of your life, I find it extremely calming. If you do not have transportation call your local AA number and I betcha someone can pick you up.

As for not liking groups...I have a trick I use-I look for the person standing alone and go say hello. They will thank you for it, because they are usually as uncomfortable as you. Then go find one of the people who seems to know others, let them know you are new, and amazing things happen.

BTW, you can always bring the Kid(s). People are very tolerant.

A veteran of lots of meetings,
Sue
