Default too wound up

Hi, New member.
Trying to find out some information. Here's my story. Had a hysterectomy in March. Everything healed. In the begining of May, started feeling anxious(more than normal), had a very short fuse, wanted everthing done now.
Went to doctor and blood pressure was 140/94. He put me on valium for 2 weeks to calm me down and see if pressure was lower. Thinks I'm too wound up and have white coat syndrome. Anyway, pressure still up and put me on Lexapro 10mg once a day. Have to go back and see him in a month. However, I have been taking my blood pressure at home and it is still in the higher range. I have just taken my first Lexapro yesterday. My question is, should I stay on the Lexapro and see if it knocks out the anxiety or could it be that I just have high blood pressure. (My father did and died of a heart attack at 59). Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. I also am on 40mg Protonix. Have been retaining fluids lately...which is very unusual for me. Thanks for all information.

MVPT has a great point if your hormones go out of wack then all sorts of problems can pop up,or even older problems that you had may get worse....You can go to an endocrine Dr. and take you hormone levels. After they have that info they will have a better idea, and could medicate you to bring your levels closer to normal.

Possibility, kept ovaries though. Still said a chance surgery could put you in to menopause. Thanks for the reply. Will look into getting hormone levels checked....Great idea....Thanks again
