Unhappy Tired of Suboxone

long story short......
from the time I was 20 or so till 4 years ago I was pretty normal, but just never really "felt good". I mean I wasn't sick or anything I just had more ****** feeling days than not..

Well one day 4 years ago I had a job related accident and hurt my back pretty bad, when leaving the hospital I was given a script for hydrocodone.... didn't know much about it at all... filled the script and popped one.
well about 1/2 an hour later I felt good,,, I mean I really felt good in a normal kinda way. I was very impressed to say the least. I had energy and I just felt like I should be feeling. I remember thinking to myself then that this might be my answer... well that script ran out and I went to my regular Dr. all the while hoping he would renew the script for me, and not only did he but he did it with 6 refills,,,,,,wow. I was finally feeling like a human for the first time in many many years. needless to say the rest is history. I was on it for 3 years.
one way or another I was able to convince this Dr. or that Dr. to give me what I wanted... up until I started worrying about my health. I was up too 6 or 8
10/660s a day, I had read about suboxone, finally I had had enough and ask my Dr about it. well he turns out to be an approved Dr. and I was in, started at 3 8s a day and its been a years and finally I'm down to 1/2 an 8 twice a day, and I'm getting ready to jump off it.... I tried while taking the 24mg a day and believe me after 7 days I was in bad shape. I tried the hydro to see if it would help and nothing... zip,,, this is some strong stuff and the half-life is what gets you. The WDs are not at all like the ones I remember from the hydros. After 7 days off them, I went to the Dr. in an urgent kind of way because I thought something was really bad wrong with me. I didn't even consider it was from the Subs because they (WDs) were so different.

Well he told me to take a sub and I took a 1/4 and felt great.

so for the record if you are taking 16-24mg a day don't try to switch back to hydros... it won't work.

My plan was to stop the Sub and when I started feeling the wds I would switch back to Hydro... then taper off that, which I figured would be a lot easier.... (And I still do).

I think from the time I was in my early 20s I had an endorphin deficiency..

And if i didn't I surly do now.
I'm so tired of being moodless. Never happy. No joy in anything. never feeling really good.

There must be a way to treat that?

How long will it take for my body to start making its own endorphines again?

Months? Years? Never?
I need an answer… I really just want to feel normal.

What are some ways to help it along?

I'm extremlly depressed and feel trapped in this suboxone nightmare.

I must say though.... The stuff does work, It trully is helpful... I'm sure it saves lives, but just be informed before you jump in.

Default Hi Ralph

I sure would recommend that you don't jump off cold at 8mg per day my friend. I know you've been doing this longer than you originally wanted to and how you feel. But as long as you've been on these you need to do a slow taper.

I've learned a lot about this medication since first using it. You should only reduce by 25% of your total dose every four days that you go with no w/d symptoms. A taper much more aggressive than that considering where you've been and you're going to be miserable I can guarantee it.

It's not THAT bad if do it like I mentioned every four days. It's really cool that you've dropped down to 8mg. But don't waste that progress by jumping off cold now and making yourself so sick. It's not worth doing that to yourself.

Go from 8mg to 6mg to 4.5 and so on down to .5mg at least reducing by the 25% every four days. Then you would start skipping days. It's not a cake walk after using for way over a year but it beats the hell out of going cold turkey off 8mg. It's obviously your call but I really do hope you don't follow that plan. Stay in touch buddy! God bless.
