Thumbs down Suboxone & Marijauana

First of all..I take 8 Mg of suboxone a day, only until monday then I'm done.
Well anyway...I used to smoke marijuana before I started the suboxone but quit once I got on it...But today I was on my way somewhere and didn't have time for it all to disolve to I broke that in half and took half of a half.
Today for some dumb reason I decided to smoke and all of a sudden...I was just sitting there...and got super hot...the the point I felt like I couldnt breath...I was shaking...felt dizzy.. tingly all over and basically felt like I was one some kind of bad speed. Then I left where I was came home took a long hot shower...and drank some hot choclate and calmed myself down..and got extremly tired..to the point I couldnt keep my eyes open..and ended up sleeping for about 4 hours, woke up and felt fine.
I'm not going to smoke that stuff anymore, but just curious.
Was it because of the Marijuana...did it just not mesh with my body and the suboxone...was it because I only took a4th of the dose I usually take...Was it something REALLY wrong going on inside/ or do you think it was a panic attack...I'd really appreciate any advice and answers.

it sounds like you underdosed on the sub and then induced a panic attack by getting high and anxious....

are you just gonna jump off the sub from 8 mg? with no wean you will def go thru some withdrawls, but its better than gettting hooked on sub long term,,,the longer you are on it, the worse it will be.

as as side note, I found that once I started smoking trees again after starting sub, I felt good again for the first time since quitting opiates. but you def need to be in the right state of mind and on enough sub to cover your habit or you will feel your bodys addiction/wd symptoms more dramatically.

go back to the weed when your mind is calm and your body is not in withdrawl...

Thank you so much for replying to me. I started at 16 mgs and dropped down by 4 mg at a time. Until I got to 8, I am definatly trying to prepare myself for the withdrawl because honestly...I am scared out of my mind about it -- because I get all crazy and read hours and hours of people writing about how terrible it was.
But hopefully, since I was only on it for a short 2 week detox - It won't be that bad, the doctor says it shouldnt be.
So after the 8 mgs, I lowered myself (with out my doctor telling me to) and today was my last day (he doesnt know that) but I need to be able to take care of my son, and it wouldnt work out with my bf's work schedule since I'm hearnig it takes like 36 hours to begin..so if I do it now, he should be here with me for a while - and after a few days pass - I know I'll start feeling better.
I'm definatly going to stay away from the reefer because after that I'm scared to ever smoke it again.

But yeah, Thanks again for helping me out and giving me some advice, I really appreciate that.

You need to detox slowly off buprenorphene otherweise your in for months of h ell!!!!! You won't feel lousy for a couple days then start to feel better. That's how you recover from vicodin or percocet. The half life i a minimum 72hrs.I hope you can do it and I wish you all the best..Here is the Thomas Recipe that has help alot of addicts.......Dave

Pain, Addiction & Withdrawal Support
> The Thomas Recipe for Cold Turkey Withdrawal
PLEASE NOTE: I am not a doctor, simply a long-time Rx opiate junkie who has had many opportunities to develop a way to detox. This is a recipe for at-home self-detox from opiates based on my experience as well as that of many other addicts. It is not intended as professional medical advice. It is always wise to make sure none of the recipe ingredients or procedures conflict with medications you may be taking. Likewise, if you have any medical condition, disease, allergy or any other health issue, consult your doctor before using the recipe. Thanks, Thomas
THOMAS RECIPE
If you can't take time off to detox, I recommend you follow a taper regimen using your drug of choice or suitable alternate -- the slower the taper, the better.
For the Recipe, You'll need:
1. Valium (or another benzodiazepine such as Klonopin, Librium, Ativan or Xanax). Of these, Valium and Klonopin are best suited for tapering since they come in tablet form. Librium is also an excellent detox benzo, but comes in capsules, making it hard to taper the dose. Ativan or Xanax should only be used if you can't get one of the others.
2. Imodium (over the counter, any drug or grocery store).
3. L-Tyrosine (500 mg caps) from the health food store.
4. Strong wide-spectrum mineral supplement with at least 100% RDA of Zinc, Phosphorus, Copper, Magnesium and Potassium (you may not find the potassium in the same supplement).
5. Vitamin B6 caps.
6. Access to hot baths or a Jacuzzi (or hot showers if that's all that's available).
How to use the recipe:
Start the vitamin/mineral supplement right away (or the first day you can keep it down), preferably with food. Potassium early in the detox is important to help relieve RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome). Bananas are a good source of potassium if you can't find a supplement for it.
Begin your detox with regular doses of Valium (or alternate benzo). Start with a dose high enough to produce sleep. Before you use any benzo, make sure you're aware of how often it can be safely taken. Different benzos have different dosing schedules. Taper your Valium dosage down after each day. The goal is to get through day 4, after which the worst WD symptoms will subside. You shouldn't need the Valium after day 4 or 5.
During detox, hit the hot bath or Jacuzzi as often as you need to for muscle aches. Don't underestimate the effectiveness of hot soaks. Spend the entire time, if necessary, in a hot bath. This simple method will alleviate what is for many the worst opiate WD symptom.
Use the Imodium aggressively to stop the runs. Take as much as you need, as often as you need it. Don't take it, however, if you don't need it.
At the end of the fourth day, you should be waking up from the Valium and experiencing the beginnings of the opiate WD malaise. Upon rising (empty stomach), take the L-Tyrosine. Try 2000 mgs, and scale up or down, depending on how you feel. You can take up to 4,000 mgs. Take the L-Tyrosine with B6 to help absorption. Wait about one hour before eating breakfast. The L-Tyrosine will give you a surge of physical and mental energy that will help counteract the malaise. You may continue to take it each morning for as long as it helps. If you find it gives you the "coffee jitters," consider lowering the dosage or discontinuing it altogether. Occasionally, L-Tyrosine can cause the runs. Unlike the runs from opiate WD, however, this effect of L-Tyrosine is mild and normally does not return after the first hour. Lowering the dosage may help.
Continue to take the vitamin/mineral supplement with breakfast.
As soon as you can force yourself to, get some mild exercise such as walking, cycling, swimming, etc. This will be hard at first, but will make you feel considerably better.

Thanks so much for your input dave, I'm just a little confused because I know I stopped taking my pills, butttt my doctor was going to have me stop at 8 mgs anyways. So....should I take the 3 pills that I have left, leave it alone all together, OR cut them up into little peices here and there.

I have 3 8mg tablets left..

and I just took 1/4th of one, so that would be 2 mgs..

should I keep taking 2 mgs for a couple of days...say 4 days...
and then cut down to 2 mg every other day...for about a week
and then 1 mg every other day, until the week after that and then take none?

Honestly, I've been so confused ever since I started this medication.
I've been told by my doctor that the shorter time that you're one it, the weaker the w/d is...
But then I've read tons of things that say not to just jump off.

I'm pretty confused and VERY scared...

Anymore advice that you have to offer me would be HIGHLY appreciated~!

Just wanted to update, earlier after I read the thomas recipe, (even tho I've read it before) I went to GNC online and ordered everything, except for the immodium...of course bc I'll get it at CVS.

At this point, I'm really starting to loose faith in staying away from the vicodens. It seems like I wish I would have known so much more about the suboxone before getting on it...seems like a week of hell is a lot better than a FEW MONTHS!

only time will tell...hopefully things will start looking up.

Oh yea, regarding mary jane, i smoked while abusing opiates and while on suboxone (currently). I feel 100% better on the sub, and the effects from mjane are not different for me with or without suboxone. The last couple of days i have woke up sweaty (a little) and had some fatigue. Wondering what that is about. Havnt jacked with my dose (16mg) 12 in a.m. and 4 in evening. See doc again on Wednesday, have some questions for him, like when do i actually detox off those oxys? Dont you have to sweat it out no matter what eventually? Stuff like that. Dont mean to mess with a good thing, but ya know i have some questions and have mostly heard positive stuff. It would be nice to see the negative postings....i think. No matter what, not going back to abusing pills...no flipping way...DONE...
