Default Suboxone, anxiety, and alcohol

Hey everyone,

I've been on suboxone for about a week now and it has been working great, except for one problem. When I started going through withdrawals when I quit hydrocodone, one of the most prominent symptoms was very bad anxiety. Well, although the suboxone has tremendously reduced almost all of my other withdrawal symptoms, the anxiety is still very bad. It has gotten a LITTLE better, but I have to walk for at least an hour every day because being inside makes me very anxious.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Or does anyone know of any OTC medications to help with anxiety?

Also, is it ok to occasionally drink while on the suboxone treatment? How will this affect everything, and has anyone done this before? Please feel free to share your experiences.

Any help appreciated.

-Heather

You need to come up abit on your suboxone dose, your experiencing withdrawls and cravings that you are feeling as anxiety.I know what this feels like and I sympathize with you,try and come up a couple mgs for a week and see if that helps.Good luck.....Dave

Buspar is pretty good for anxiety, but it's not OTC. If you goto the website in my signature, you'll find it on there. The generic works just as well as the brand name version, and it's cheaper. All you have to do is fill out a short questionnaire, and as long as you really believe you need it, you'll probably be approved! The site also offers tramadol, which can help greatly in opiate withdrawals because of its mu-opioid receptor activity. Hope everything works out.

hey Pop, I was curious how your friends short bupe taper went...did that small amount help? Did the wd's become bad after 48 hours(when the buprinex faded)? I am considering a short taper, any help is appreciated...

Thanks in advance...

Hey mattyA,

He took 1/4 of a pill (2mgs) about 3 days into the wd's and they subsided them completely for about a day or two. After that they would come back, but nothing like they were before. He would take another 1/4 of a pill off and on to help for a bout a week to a week and a half. He didn't take it everyday and never took more than 2mgs. He hasn't had any suboxone in 2 days and feels completely normal. Hope that helps and if you have any more questions I'm glad to help, sorry for the late reply. Keep me updated on what you decide and good luck!

Hey Dave,
Ya it is amazing how much that little bit does help. Just thought I would let you know I am doing really good and have even come down to the amount I was taking when you suggested the slight increase.

Thanks again everyone for the advice and support, it has helped so much!
-Heather
