Default stiff jaw from medication

i started taking Lexapro on monday (its saturday now) and my jaw has felt locked/stiff since around day #3.

has anyone had this side effect at all? its nothing major, though when i go to speak it feels like i really have to pry my teeth apart sometimes. the feeling comes and goes.

how long does it last? any idea what it is in the meds that causes this feeling?

cheers

I don't know from personal experience but it appears jaw clenching and jaw stiffness are listed as a side effect from lexapro... I just googled "jaw" and "lexapro" together and there were several articles...sorry to hear about that and good luck!

Hey there,

I stumbled across your question and thought I should let you know my experiences. Firstly just making sure the Lexapro your taking is an anti-depressant, if it is then I used to be on it but quickly changed as I suffered many side effects to it. Extreme nausia, unbelieable lack of sex drive, migranes the list goes on. I didnt get a stiff jaw but that could be linked to the migranes I had. Anyway I was referred to 'Lovan' and have not had any side effects whatsoever, its brilliant. See if you can give that a go.

Hope that helps

: )

Please be careful, what you are describing is a symptom of serotonin syndrome, a situation that occcurs when lexapro is combined with another medication that uses the cytochrome p 450 system in the liver and causes a increase in the levels of lexapro due to both drugs being unable to be metabolized. This can be deadly so do not treat it lightly. One of the reasons Anna Nichole Smith died.

Read thru the ealry posts of lexapro withdrawal in featured conditions in this forum. You may reconsider taking lexapro, it is the worst drug out there to get off of. It will change your brain chemistry and make "stopping lexapro" cause you to have symptoms of someone that has had a stroke. Please read the posts, it has had over a million hits so it is NOT just a isolated incident.
