| | Starting Suboxone Tomorrow (hopefully)- NEED HELP! Hi,
I posted a message on here regarding my addicition a couple of days ago, and everyone has been very helpful!
I went to a doc and he prescribed me suboxone. He told me to wait 24 hrs from my last dose of oxycontin.
I can go about 8 hrs but then I start to feel bad.
What can I do to help me go the full 24 hours?
What can I take? I think he said I can take anything over the counter...but I am not sure what to take.
I dont think I will be able to sleep either. Should I just stay up the whole time and wait the 24 hrs and then take the suboxone pill?
Also, is it hard to ween off of suboxone? will I be on it the rest of my life, or will I be able to ween myself off of that?
What is harder to ween off of... oxycontin (240mg 3 times per day),
or suboxone?
Also he told me to take 1 suboxone pill. I think it is either 5mg or 8mg. It is the orange pill. he told me to put it under my tongue.
Will 1 pill help me? or will I need more?
Thanks and PLEASE HELP!
I have gone 6 hrs without nothing and dont knwo what to do to go the full 24 hrs! Please help and let me know what I should take once I feel bad!
Thanks! |

| | well oxleg, you definitely came to the right place, and should really read around this forum and other posts as there is a wealth of knowledge. first off, if you are trying to induct properly to suboxone, you need to know that most all the doctors who perscribe this drug don't know nearly as much as they should. waiting 24hrs is NOT the exact right way to do it. everyone is different, and each has their own history of drug use and tolerance. you need to read the COWS worksheet and score yourself honestly before taking suboxone. you really need to be in bad withdrawal to maximize the use of this pill, and that means scoring at least a 26 on the symptoms COWS worksheet. if you are not at that point there is a high risk for precipitated w/d, and that would be terrible, and you would then have to go back to square one feeling worse than before. so if i read this correctly you were taking up to 720mg of oxy per day??? wow. that is a whopper of a habit, and sounds expensive too. the best thing you can do is read the THomas Recipe while you are dealing with the w/d, and I would suggest getting outside and trying to take your mind off the pain, take hot showers or baths to help the time go by, and ease the pain. suboxone is a very hard and powerful drug, and not easy to ween off. BUT if you do this correctly and try to follow the taper plan, you can make it easier on yourself and try to get off in 2-3 months before you develope a new habit. robert helps many on here with inductions and taper. the KEY to doing this if you choose to go this route is to induct at the LOWEST possible doasge of suboxone. most doc's will tell you to take 2 or 3 (8mg) pills and have a good day, this is ludicrous! and a crime in my opinion. you, and many others who have found this site are more fortunate, because you can here the truth from so many who have lived it. Stay connected. |

| | oxleg .... I've been working with people on subs for years. You don't take anything while you're waiting for induction. It hides the symptoms and you want to get to that 26 score RubyDean talked about.
Here is a link explaining how I suggest doing this. Pay close attention to the INDUCTION section. There is a link there for the COWS (clinical opioid w/d scale) worksheet. If after reading you want my help let me know. God bless. http://www.drugs.com/forum/featured-...apy-50887.html

| | and whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE THE SUBS TOO EARLY,
or you will go into precipitated withdrawls and they are NOT FUN AT ALL.
good luck oxleg, you can make it through the gauntlet, and onto subs.
been there done that too.

| | I think that has to do with waiting to score the 26 on the COWS worksheet. That's why I asked him to pay close attention to the INDUCTION section of the link. Thanks and God bless.

Your dr is a complete IDIOT giving you suboxone coming off 120mg of methadone. You should be tapering down to 30mg at least before ever touching suboxone.
Freakin dr shouldn't be allowed to RX suboxone if that is the extent of his/her knowledge. You have NO BUSINESS on suboxone at this point. THAT IS A FACT!!! You may as well change your address to the ER if you continue this process like you're doing. You'll be lucky if you don't end up in a psych ward at this rate. God bless.

| | This just might be the dumbest doctor i have heard of yet prescribing suboxone! Robert we should all petition to have you get a certificate from the DEA to write scripts for Subs! The world would be so much a better place for it! |

| | I would do it in a heartbeat if I could. I wish that I could do it but I doubt anyone would grant me the right to do anything like that even though I know that I could pass their little 8 hour course for certification with my eyes closed. Such is life. God bless.
