Default For Robert_325 about Suboxone Withdrawal (Or Anyone Knowledgeable)

Hey there,

I've been on subs for roughly 5 months (after smoking heroin for 6 months off and on (1-3 balloons a day, sometimes skipping one or two days)). I didn't really get any direction with a taper plan so I pretty much devised one on my own.

I started at 4mg, then tapered to 3mg, then to 2mg (though I was inconsistent at times, sometimes skipping days, sometimes + or - 1mg from what I was supposed to take).

Well I finally decided to hell with this drug, I want to be clean and jumped at around 2.75mg. I am currently on day 10 of being off the drug and still am withdrawing. Haven't slept in a week solid and am really lethargic with stomach issues. My doc did put me on blood pressure pills (propranolol) and it has helped slightly.

I am just wondering, how much longer will my symptoms last based on my experience with sub? Should I get back on it and start a new short plan to a really low dose?

Please understand also that I'm a 20 year old college student and just started school, so I can't feel like this for much longer or I'll most likely do bad in school and in work.

Thanks!

You should get back on, let me re-induct you, then we'll taper you down properly. If you continue what you're doing you'll likely be having w/d symptoms for a month. I just ask that you follow the instructions. I'm busy on here every day. Let me know. God bless.

Cool Hks

from what i have learnt in my time on this forum, you jumped off too high a dose of subs. they are more potent than people realize.
you should have tapered right down, only dropping at 25% of your current dose at a time.
it would sound like you need to either keep on the cold turkey route, 10 days is a good long time. or taper off subs properly.,
sorry i cant tell you how long sub withdrawls are, but if their half life is longer than methadone, which i am an expert on, then sub withdrawl could be a long drawn out process coz their half life is even longer.
good on you, this forum will get you an answer before too long, theres lots of people with all sorts of experience. just thought i would pop in now and give you a thumbs up.

Thanks guys!

Yeah the insomnia is really killing me. Especially now that I'm in school. I don't think I could handle a month with no sleep.

So Rob I'll let you know when I get back on (hopefully in the next couple days). Should I email you or do you want me to talk to you through here?

And thanks again, I really appreciate you helping me out.

Hopefully you are doing better. 10 days is a long time, so you could ride it out or get more and talk to Robert and still be able to taper off in a month or 2. With school and everything it might really be helpful to get back on and taper properly. peace&love.
