Default ROBERT325...About RA Med Question

No it really is NOT me, I swear. His sysmptoms are swollen, red, inflamed joints, mainly in A.M., all the usual with RA which he was diagnosed with. HAS tried Methotrexate, made him very sick, is now tying ARAVA. But is there anything to get him off the STEROIDS - too many negative mind / mood effects.

IS INDOCIN a replacement for Prednisone???? For moods, etc...

I also have RA and I hate Prednisone. Makes you gain weight, affects your overall attitude horribly, I think it's garbage. Indocin can be used but there are lots of restrictions for using it and also side effect potentials you need to be aware of. Here is a link to an article. Hope it helps you with your decision. God bless.

Thank you so much for the article. Im sorry that you also suffer from RA. From what I have seen..it must be pretty bad sometimes.

Mind if I ask your dosage of Prednisone?? He takes 10mg daily but up to 20mg if having a flare.

I don't take it regularly but at times it gets as high as 60mg. Then it's at that level for a short time until I begin tapering back down as I'm able slowly to nothing. You have to taper off slowly or you can have severe leg cramps and other side effects. Another reason I don't like prednisone. God bless.
