Default Quit Lexapro cold over a week ago

Hey - QUITLEXCOLDTURK -

I've seen a couple of your posts about when you quit...but can't piece together all of the threads...

I quit over a week ago...It sounds like I'm not in the clear? You were OK for a while?

Can you fill me in a bit. ( I know we will all respond differently...but I still want to know what has happened to others...)

Hello Thimble.

I weaned off of Lexapro in about two weeks, taking my last bit on June 16, 2006. Had been on it or Celexa for seven years.

I had NO withdrawal effects until I contracted Mononucleosis with symptoms occuring on July 4.

Since then I have had metal mouth and parathesias in my mouth, feet and hands.

I suppose these are common withdrawal effects, but odd that mine were delayed.

It is now November, and I still have the tingling, numbness, burning, sand paper mouth/feet/hands and often metal taste in my mouth.

All tests prove negative...so..I guess it is just the withdrawal from Lexapro.

on the bright side...my libido is back (orgasm is possible, too) and I have lost 15 pounds without a struggle.

I am just waiting for final clearance of withdrawal, I suppose.

How are you doing?

Jeanne

THIMBLE--I quit Lexapro cold turkey after taking 20mg for two years. The first two weeks were symptom free. Then all hell broke loose. Sick to my stomach, dizziness, crying, tingling in hands and feet, electrical shocks, etc. I suffered for two weeks with these symtpoms, then my whole right side of my body started going numb. I decided to go back on the lexapro, I was thinking 10 mg but my doctor said to go back to the 20mg. Within a few days things drastically improved. The dizziness lasted for a week to two but now is completely gone. I am going to taper off of Lexapro very, very slowly soon. Hope I don't have any withdrawal problems that way. Good Luck!

Hello Quit.

Yeah, try it slow. Over two weeks I kept cutting back from the 10mg I was on until I was taking .25mg every other evening.

I had my dates mixed up and realized today that my last bit of Lexapro was on June 26, with withdrawal symptoms coinciding with my Mono on July 4...so that was just eight days before my symptoms started.

Numb, tingling, metal mouth, numb and tingling feet and hands. Sandpaper feet and mouth, I called it. Horrible, yuck...nothing helped.

But...knock wood...these symptoms have disappeared as of Sunday the 5 of November. That is a long time for withdrawal! My GP tested for all sorts of problems, and never considered it was long term withdrawal symptoms from quitting Lexapro.

Hope your next attempt to quit works well for you.

Jeanne
