Arrow quick question regarding pharmacy turning me down for meds right after surgery!

hi, i got released from the hospital today for my leg reconstruction surgery well my wife ran into a problem at the pharmacy today when she tried to get my oxycontin refilled. well they told her that i cant have them untill the 10th of june....what do i do, they dont understand that i had surgery and wont make it till the 10th.... we went to the same pharmacy where i always, and i am not some strung out person. i just have had surgery, and i took extra...

my question is this a pharmacy policy that they can only give out so many, so should i do to another pharmacy, or is that against the law. but i have a legit prescription from the surgeon.

could someone help, thanks alot

By law they can't refill your script until what ever the original doctors prescription order states. You will have to call your doctor and ask for an additional prescription, and if it's more OC very likely your insurance will make you pay cash out of pocket. This happened to me awhile back after a nasty accident. Maybe you should ask for Oxy IR, it won't cost you as much. As far as the pharmacy is concerned, and even though you've been in the hospital you shouldn't have ran out of your meds early. Hopefully your doctor will understand, but don't be surprised to receive only hydrocodone. Many don't believe just because you have extra pain that means you can take more of your meds. Don't blame the pharmacy. Sorry about your luck pal.
