Default Question reguarding Oxycontin VS Oxycodone

Not sure if this is the correct forum, as I am not an addict, but I figured maybe someone with experience with these drugs may be able to help.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm a 26 year old male who has been taking prescribed 5-10/325 mg Oxycodone(Percocet) for almost a year now. I suffer from Chronic kidney stones. I have been in and out of surgery several times. From laser surgery to Nephrolithotomy (http://www.surgerydoor.co.uk/so/deta...Kidney%20stone).

I limit myself to one pill or less a day to prevent addiction and have never crossed my boundaries. After my nephrolithotomy, my doctor wanted me to try Oxycontin 40mg pills. For some reason they made me severely ill both times that I tried it. I had horrible side effects. Severe vomiting and nausea that lasted ~48 hours. I find it odd that I can take normal Oxycodone but not the delayed release version, Oxycontin.

Now, for my question:

I've read that people abuse oxycontin, crushing it to remove the delayed release. But I'm curious what happens if you crush the pill, ingesting roughly 1/4th of the pill ORALLY with a 500mg tylonel? Wouldn't that be equivalent to a 10/500mg Percocet pill?

I wanted to ask here because I realize crushing a pill is NOT common practice.

Thanks in advance.

I would venture to say that any Dr who would prescribe 40mg oxycontin would most certainly give you 10mg percs. Why don't you just tell your Dr that the percs work better for you.Oxycontin also comes in lower doses than 40mg.It comes in 20 and 30 as well.Crushing pills is never a good thing and can give you problems. You really can not guess the dose properly that way.Good luck
