Default a question about the Thomas Recipe

Hey I apologize if this post appears twice, it seems to not have posted from a bit earlier. I found the Thomas recipe but not sure if I can afford everything today and I am going to prob. have to use Xanax. If I have to cut out say 2 things what are the 2 least important things do you think? I'm thinking I can do without the Imodium if necessary because I still have Vicoden left. I can buy bananas instead of Vitamins. I don't think I can take Vita B-6 because it flushes me really bad. What do you think? Thanks. MaraK. Oh also, I should also add what else I take at this time. Blood pressure meds, hormones, acid reflux stuff, 75 milligrams of Elavil, I take (still but may need to taper these as well if I don't find a doc in the next few days) 3 -10 Vicoden, not sure the amount of acetemeophine, sorry know that is NOT spelled right and sure don't feel like looking the correct spelling up at this time, I have some really strong big Ibuprofen (but have to be really careful of them because of the acid relux thing) and have something called Methocarbamol. This is a muscle relaxer? So might be of use to me at this time. Thanks for help guys. MaraK.

Using the xanax is fine, valium is better but you'll get by on the xanax. You only need it for 4-6 days then stop it.

If you are on a HBP medication you need to monitor your BP. You might need a little extra medication as opiate w/d normally will increase your blood pressure. Most rehabs even RX clonidine (which is a blood pressure med) to those in opiate detox. The other meds you listed will be okay.

Ibuprofen is good. If you're doing a taper you shouldn't require Immodium AD. If you're doing a cold turkey count on needing it. The methocarbomal won't hurt anything, it is a muscle relaxer. Just take it conservatively. Good luck and God bless.

Mara,

Are you trying to get off the vicodin? If you're trying to stop using, you don't want to be using it to stop the diarrhea, right?

Lots of drug stores sell a much cheaper generic version of imodium. If you get the runs badly, you might think about looking into that. There are also more natural ways to help with diarrhea. Eat stuff like bananas, white bread, white rice, etc. Your body will regulate itself eventually. If you have the runs, look out for getting dehydrated. Gatorade can be very helpful.

The vitamin B-6 is to help with the absorption of the L-tyrosine. I would think you could do without the B-6, especially if you get a bad reaction to it anyway.

If you can possibly afford the mineral supplement, you should get it. It helped me a lot in terms of getting some energy and just not feeling miserable.

They give methocarbamol in detox for back spasms, so it's useful if you run into that problem.

Good luck and please let us know how you do.
