Exclamation Question about painkiller addiction

If a person has previously been addicted to a painkiller such as hydrocodone, or has a current addiction, is it possible that they can take the medication to supplement their addiction, then not remember taking it?

For example, if somebody has a vicodin addiction, and another member of the household has their own prescription, is it possible for the addict to steal the medication, then not remember taking it?

CMoore21 - I was addicted to painkillers for about a year and a half. I have been clean now for 64 days. I can honestly say I never once "took" pills from someone without remembering it. An addict will do and say just about anything in order to get more pills once they run out. Unless this person you're talking about was also on benzos at the time (xanax, valium) I'm almost certain they were aware of taking what they did.

CMoore,

I agree with ENOPP. There were lots of times that I took a bunch of my own pills, pain meds, somas, and benzos and not remember how many I took and then take more. But if I took some of someone else's that was something different. If I premeditatedly stole someone's pills, sure I would remember. That took too much effort to "just conveniently forget."

If an addict has stolen someone's pills and are saying they don't remember, they are fighting to survive in their addiction and are lying out the a$$. Don't listen to them for a second.
